A Fulfilling Breakfast Based on the Famous Lebanese Ground Beef Culinary Mixture.
Nutritious, Delicious, Energizing, and Easy to Prepare.
This was my father’s favorite breakfast. It is very quickly done when you have set aside some of the meat culinary mixture we often do for many of our dishes. Stored in the fridge for next morning, one has to only warm it in the skillet and crack the eggs over. That was a regular practice in our home.
It is not very common to see this fulfilling breakfast at our tables. However, it is one of our old-time dishes, along with the Fatteh, that our forefathers in the villages used to consume before heading to work on their lands. It would allow them good energetic strength for the long hard work ahead. The legacy of this dish hasn’t really died. It is still being cooked regularly for breakfast in certain homes and villages. May my post today revives it and spreads it.
While an easy dish to prepare, it is important that the ingredients be cooked and presented in the smallest size possible. That is for a texture that is smooth to consume, a uniformity of the ingredients that is delicious, and a presentation that is pleasing to the eyes.
That is to say: the onions should be chopped finely, the meat broken into tiny pieces while cooking, and the eggs as well.
If you have ground beef previously cooked (and seasoned), your breakfast is almost done. Heat back the meat mixture in the skillet and… skip the recipe’s instructions to part 2.
Our Scrambled Eggs with meat is consumed with Lebanese bread, and fresh tomatoes and/or cucumber on the side.
Some love chomping into fresh spring onion while they are enjoying this dish. That is of no surprise in Lebanon. Many do love it this way, and appreciate the healing values it brings them, specially to release nasal congestion in winter.

Lebanese Breakfast: Eggs Scrambled with Ground Beef
- 4 Eggs (large) whisked
For the Meat Mixture
- 200 gr Ground Beef (lean)
- 1/2 Onion (small) chopped thinly
- 1 dash Cinnamon
- 1 dash Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp cooking Olive Oil Otherwise, use vegetable oil
- 1/4 tsp Salt or as desired
Preheat your skillet on medium heat. Pour the oil and sautee the onions until translucent.
Add the meat, mixing well, and season with the salt and the spices. With the tip of your wooden spoon, pound on the meat to break it into the smallest granules possible.
Increase the heat to Medium-High, and mix continuously until the meat is cooked. For 200 gr of meat, this should take about 4 minutes.
Decrease the heat to Low, and mix in the whisked eggs. As they cook, mix and pound with the tip of the wooden spoon to break the formation of big pieces.
Keep pending, turning and mixing every few seconds until well done. (about 3 minutes).
Serve at once, and enjoy them!
