1 1/2 cup Flour
2 tsps Baking Powder
1 tsp Instant Yeast
1 dash Salt
2 Egg
2 tsps Dry Mint
1 tsp Dry Basil
1 tsp Oregano
2 tbsps Powder Milk non-fat
1/2 cup water
2 tbsps Vegetable Oil
1/ cup Black Olives pitted and sliced
1 cup Yellow Cheese low-fat, shredded
1 tbsp Olive Oil extra virgin

    Who doesn’t love the warm enticing aroma of baking bread and the comforting pleasure in digging his/her teeth in a freshly baked one?

    Bread with Olive, Cheese and ThymeBread, my friends, it’s love in baking form!

    Enjoying a freshly bread made at home is a delight not many experienced because of the intimidating aura around its process. And yet! It is not as complicated as it was made to believe.

    The abundant availability of bread in stores also makes us opt for an easier run to the bakeries. However, none of those we buy compares to the personal gratification and delight in making and eating our own bread.

    Today, I invite you to give it a try with my easy recipe.

    Bread of Olive, Cheese & Thyme: The Recipe

    This recipe is inspired from both a nutritionist and my good friend Lisa M. who granted me the pleasure to enjoy hers, warm right from the oven, just few months ago.


    The outcome of this recipe is a delicious spongy bread with incorporated black olives and cheese. It is fragrant with a moderate dose of Thyme to sparkle your senses with the exotic Middle East.

    You can then make different variations in the added ingredients. The possibilities are open to your creativity and preferences.

    In addition to the Benefits of Thyme, Oregano, Basil, Eggs, Milk, and Cheese, the whole grains of the Flour constitute a good source of magnesium, iron, selenium, B vitamins, and dietary fiber, as well as carbohydrates.


    As for the Black Olives….

    Black Olives:  1 Cup contains 38% copper, 25%  iron, 17%  fiber, and 15%  vitamin.

    Black Olives have proven to contain a diverse range of Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory nutrients, some of which are unique to the Olives.

    Their uniqueness is in that their benefits extend to most of our body systems: cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, musculoskeletal, immune, inflammatory, and digestive, as well as having anti-cancer benefit, decreasing LDL cholesterol, and lowering risk of heart disease.

    Enjoying the Bread of Olive, Cheese & Thyme

    I found this bread delectable as is, warm from the oven, but also with a spread of unsalted butter and a slice of ham.

    It is particularly delicious with a spread of extra cheese flavor like Oursin with Garlic and Herbs, Caprice des Dieux, or similar.

    Excellent for any Cheese & Wine feast, or with a glass of red wine to culminate the delectable enjoyment of your palate!

    Preparing the Dough

    1- Mix flour, baking powder, yeast and salt, and set aside.
    2- Whisk the eggs with mint, basil and oregano, and blend well.
    3- Melt the milk powder with cold water, and add it to the eggs.
    4- Add the vegetable oil and stir very well.
    5- Gradually add the olives, the cheese and the flour, and mix well by hands until you get a homogeneous dough. You may add flour if necessary.


    Shape & Bake

    1- Sweep your hands with some oil, and divide the dough into 12 equal balls.
    2- Extend them into long small breads.
    3- Place them on a non-stick oven tray, and let them rest for 10 minutes.
    4- Preheat your oven at 356F (180C)
    5- Bake your breads for 15 minutes.
    6- Turn on the upper heat, and bake for a couple of minutes for the bread to color.



    Place on a serving tray.
    Delicious eaten hot, or even at room temperature.
